What a guest. One gets an unique feeling when you talk to folks that were part of history. It's awe, humbleness and intrigue at the same time. Knowing that the voice on the other end of the phone was on legendary drag racing team in the golden days of the sport, we had so many questions to ask. Today our guest is Joe Pappas of the world famous "Motown (Mopar) Missile" team and he answered questions with such great insights we didn't want him to stop. Topics on today's show include: the name change of the Motown/Mopar Missile and what Barry Gordy had to do with that, what it was like to be on a Mopar Factory team, bringing engines in Holiday Inn rooms (with fuel), why the Motown Missile team was different than the other Mopar Factory teams (Sox and Martin, Landy, Leal, etc), who built their chassis (hint-it wasn't in Michigan) , Mr. Hoover, hanging out with Dyno Don, Ronnie and Grumpy, that big per diem money, the Mopar "Test Program Services", reel to reel data recorder, corporate politics, Grumpy's tube chassis Vega, NHRA hates Hemis, the end of the Mopar Factory teams, going to see Don Carlton's shop again after years past and so much more.
