When we are rolling in our season, we dine out quite frequently. Mostly by the track it is a Denny's or some fast food place. We were up in St. Clair, Michigan and found a pleasent looking pub off the main drag. Walked in, and it was a classic /hotel/pub/restaurant with some of the best service we ever had. We are talking with Greg Baron, the manager for the Murphy Inn about all kinds of topics like: 1836 is when it was opened, ghosts anyone, the cool upstairs hotel, the SCI, that great pub look, what the main dining room was when it opened, that manager that talks to you about your service, that small town greeting, talking about that Reuben!, the owners and their history, food from scratch, the 114 year old Brunswick bar top, park your boat and come on in, that big rocking chair in front, and so much more. We enjoy small town-one off restaurants and the Murphy Inn goes to the upper area of our list to return to.

It is amazing how much we depend on our ears, yet it is almost the last thing that we protect. Once that hearing is gone, try as you might to get even a little of it back. Kristin Hinderliter is our guest today to talk about how to keep your hearing well and what to do to protect it , especially if you are around high volumes (anyone say drag racing?). Topics on today's show include: hearing aids progress in the modern age, how guys don't hear women's voices when they get older, blue tooth aids, how there isn't a stigma about getting help for your hearing, are they mumbling or is it you, putting your fingers in your ears is not an answer, earphones please, bobby pins is not for ears, how to clean your ears correctly, hearing scams, candle in your ear(stop!) and so much more. We really like Ms. Hinderliter. It"s a unique situation to have to seek help for your hearing if you feel that you are losing some of it. Some wont admit to it. With the effervescence that Ms. Hinderliter has for Audiology, we were pleasantly surprised when we first communicated with her. Our recommendation, just go. You got nothing to lose but your hearing...

We run into weekly some really outstanding people, people who are very passionate about their craft, about what they do. Mostly, these folks don't get any time in the spotlight, even though they deserve it. We are pleased to have Paul Steiner of Steiner's Meat Market in Warren, Michigan as our first subject on The Spotlight On Show. Listening to Mr. Steiner gives you all kinds of new insights that the normal person would never know about meats, cooking of such and the changing landscape of meat markets. We caught up with Mr. Steiner on a very busy Saturday afternoon while he was making a London Broil at his shop. And we just let the recorder run...
